Fisher Island lies between Miami Beach and Virginia Key, cut off from the mainland when a shipping channel was dredged a century ago and reachable only by ferry or boat. It is a residential island of apartments and villas with one of the highest per-capita incomes in the United States, and it operates as a members' club.
