Accessibility

What was tested, what was fixed, what is still open

The register is plain HTML and is meant to be read with anything: a screen reader, a keyboard, a phone, a text browser. The list of records exists in the page itself rather than being drawn by script, so a reader that runs no JavaScript still gets all of it.

Tested across every page of this build: one first-level heading per page and no skipped levels; navigation inside labelled landmarks; a skip link to the record; every control reachable and visibly focused by keyboard; decorative marks hidden from screen readers and the island fingerprint carrying a text alternative; every field with a name.

Contrast was measured rather than assumed, against both backgrounds the site uses. Three text colours failed the 4.5:1 standard and were darkened until they passed on white and on the tinted panels alike; the pale sage remains as rules and borders, where contrast is not a legibility question.

Still open: comparison needs JavaScript, and the register's filters do too, though the full list underneath them does not. No captioning applies yet because the register carries no audio of its own. If something here is unusable for you, the corrections address reaches the editors and the same address is used for this.
