Cavallo lies in the Lavezzi archipelago in the Strait of Bonifacio, between Corsica and Sardinia, reached by boat from Bonifacio or by the island's small airstrip. It is a granite island of low scrub and wind-shaped rock, largely built over with private villas belonging to a long-established and famously discreet set of owners. The Lavezzi islands around it are a nature reserve. One hotel operates on the island, which is why this register files it among the societies.
