Motu Tane is a private motu on the Bora Bora lagoon, developed over decades by the French cosmetics entrepreneur François Nars into a Polynesian estate of thatched fare set in extensive gardens — one of the most photographed private properties in French Polynesia and quite unlike the resort motus around it.
The island has appeared both as an exclusive-use rental and as a property for sale, and this register holds it as Status Unverified for exactly that reason: an island being marketed for sale is not reliably available to guests, and the two positions cannot be reconciled from open sources. Nothing here should be treated as bookable.
An estate, not a resort. The buildings, the planting and the collection inside them were assembled for one owner over thirty years and have no hospitality logic at all.
For sale and for rent at once. The ambiguity is the record's most useful fact, and the reason the entry carries a warning rather than a rate.
