Quilalea is a small uninhabited island in the Quirimbas Archipelago off northern Mozambique, inside a marine sanctuary, reached by boat or light aircraft. Unlike Benguerra nearby, this island genuinely carries one property and no village — a rare arrangement on this coast and the reason the entry is kept.
Around nine villas made up the property, with turtle nesting on its beaches and reefs immediately offshore. This register holds it as Status Unverified: reports of closure and reopening have followed one another and the current position could not be established from open sources. Conditions in Cabo Delgado have affected tourism across the province.
A genuinely private island in an archipelago that has few. Most Quirimbas islands are inhabited; Quilalea is not.
