Vahine occupies a private motu on the barrier reef of Taha'a in the Society Islands, reached by boat from Raiatea. The motu is small and one property holds it. Taha'a is the vanilla island of French Polynesia and its lagoon is shared with Le Taha'a and with local boat traffic.
Nine bungalows — beach and overwater — make up the accommodation, which is among the smallest in French Polynesia. The property is run simply and traditionally, without a spa or a programme, and the coral garden drift snorkel on the ocean side is reachable from the motu.
