Four Seasons Resort Caye Chapel

A 280-acre Belizean caye being rebuilt around a golf course and a marina, opening 2027.

Full entry · sources recorded · verification stamp pending

Caye Chapel lies inside the Belize Barrier Reef, close to Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker, reached by boat or by the island's own airstrip. The caye covers about 280 acres and was previously a golf resort before falling out of use. It is being redeveloped as a Four Seasons with the island's whole footprint under one operator, which is what places it in this register rather than beside the mainland resorts.

The published plan runs to around 100 rooms plus overwater bungalows and private residences, with a golf course designed by Greg Norman, a marina and the airstrip retained. Opening is stated for 2027. Nothing here has been verified on the ground: this entry records announced facts with their dates, and no guest experience should be inferred from it.

A whole barrier-reef caye under one operator. Belize has very few islands of this size in single hands, and none at this level.

Golf, marina and airstrip on a reef caye. The infrastructure is unusual and will define the property more than the room count does.

Who it is not for

Caye Chapel is wrong for anyone planning travel before the opening is confirmed — dates in this register are announcements, not commitments. It is wrong for guests seeking a small, quiet island, since the plan is a full resort with a marina. And it is wrong for those who want an untouched caye, as the island has been developed before. Those wanting Belize now should look at Cayo Espanto or Turneffe.
