Obonjan is an uninhabited island off Šibenik in Croatia, about an unpublished number of hectares of pine forest with a rocky shoreline and no permanent population. It sits in a national-park-adjacent stretch of the Dalmatian coast reached by boat from the mainland. This register holds it in the Extended Index, and the reason is straightforward: the product is glamping and programming rather than luxury hospitality, and placing it beside North Island would misdescribe both.
Accommodation runs to tents, cabins and lodges across the island, with an open-air stage, yoga and wellness programming, and a season built around music and events rather than around a hotel calendar. The island has changed hands and formats more than once; its current operating model should be confirmed before any booking is quoted.
Programming rather than service. The island sells a season, not a stay, and the difference shows in everything from the bedding to the timetable.
The only Adriatic private island in this register. Croatia has thousands of islands and almost no private-island hospitality at this scale, which is why the entry is kept despite the format.
Who it is not for
Obonjan is wrong for guests expecting luxury hotel standards — the accommodation is glamping and honestly so. It is wrong for travellers wanting quiet, since the programming is the point in season. And it is wrong for anyone visiting outside the short summer, when the island closes. Those wanting Mediterranean island hospitality at a different level should look at Zannier Île de Bendor or Mamula.
