Three villas on a private caye off Placencia, and staff who sleep on the island next door.
Royal Belize occupies a caye of seven and a half acres inside the Belize Barrier Reef, reached by boat from Placencia. Three houses carry five suites, and the island is let to one party at a time — between ten and sixteen guests. There is no village and no second property.
The stay is all-inclusive, with a chef and a full-time staff, and snorkel gear, kayaks, paddleboards and a Hobie Cat included. Where the staff sleep is not settled: the operator's own rental page says their quarters are separated from the guest part of the island by water, an agent's page describes a bunkhouse on the island. The register prints both rather than choosing.
Three houses, one party. The island is small enough that the party occupies it completely, which is the whole of the proposition.
Children are part of the plan. Under-fours stay free and five to twelves at a reduced rate, which is unusual at this end of the market and worth knowing either way.
Who it is not for
Three villas make this the wrong island for a large party, and it is wrong for a couple, who will carry the cost of the whole island. It is wrong for travellers who want polish — this is a barefoot Caribbean property, not a design statement. And it is wrong for guests who need a spa, a gym or a choice of restaurants. Couples should look at Gladden or Cayo Espanto; groups wanting design should look to Banwa.
