Raffles Udaipur occupies a private island in Udai Sagar, a lake east of Udaipur in Rajasthan, reached by boat. The island runs to about twenty-one acres, most of it garden, and the hotel is built low around courtyards and water. It is a lake island rather than a sea one, and it sits at P2 in this register because the property is split: rooms stand on the island and a further set at Lakeshore on the mainland, which means the island inventory and the hotel inventory are not the same number.

It is wrong for travellers seeking a small island retreat, since this is a large hotel. And it is wrong for those who want to walk into Udaipur in the evening. Those wanting a small lake island should look at Jicaro or Mumbo.
