Lubrense Private Island (Amalfi)

An Amalfi island let whole at the top of the European market, identity to be confirmed.

Full entry · sources recorded · verification stamp pending

The record covers a private island on the Amalfi Coast let for exclusive use, reported with six bedrooms for twelve guests, a staff of around fifteen and its own boat, at a rate that would make it the most expensive island rental in Europe. The Amalfi Coast has very few true islands, and the best-documented of them is Li Galli, the archipelago once owned by Rudolf Nureyev.

This register holds the entry as Status Unverified and flags a probable duplication with LHL-I-058. The immediate task is to establish which island is meant, under which name it is marketed, and whether the two records describe one property. Nothing about capacity or rates should be relied on until that is done.

Possible duplicate. Two records for one Amalfi island would be a defect; the register keeps both visible until the question is settled rather than quietly merging them.

The European ceiling. If the reported figures hold, this is the highest-priced whole-island let on the continent, which is worth verifying precisely because it is quotable.

Who it is not for

This is wrong for any traveller planning a booking before the property is identified. It is wrong as a price comparison until the figures are confirmed. And it is wrong for guests wanting a documented operating history, which does not exist here. And it is wrong for anyone treating the reported rate as a benchmark. Those wanting a documented Mediterranean whole-island let should look at Tagomago, off Ibiza, which is described in full here.
