Nikoi Private Island
A granite Indonesian island for families, built in driftwood, three hours from Singapore.
Nikoi lies off the east coast of Bintan in the Riau archipelago, reached by ferry from Singapore and then boat — under three hours door to door. The island is granite and casuarina forest with beaches between boulders, and one property occupies it. Its sister island Cempedak is nearby under the same ownership and takes adults only.
Fifteen houses built from driftwood, alang-alang thatch and local timber make up the accommodation, with no air conditioning in most of them and no televisions anywhere. Nikoi is explicitly the family island of the pair, with a children's programme and rooms that hold four. The whole island can be taken, which happens often for weddings and family weeks.
