Parrot Cay is a thousand-acre island in Turks and Caicos, reached by boat from Providenciales. It is not a resort island in the strict sense: the resort occupies part of it and privately owned villas and estates the rest, which is why this register places it at P3 rather than P4. Guests share the island's road, its beach and its dock with owners who live there part of the year.
Around seventy rooms, suites and villas make up the resort, alongside the private residences. COMO Shambhala Retreat is the property's centre of gravity — one of the best-known destination spas in the Caribbean, with a wellness kitchen, resident practitioners and programmes that shape the food across the whole property. The three-mile beach is the island's other argument.
The spa sets the menu. COMO Shambhala's approach runs through the kitchens rather than stopping at the treatment rooms, which is why guests notice it whether or not they book a treatment.

Who it is not for
Parrot Cay is wrong for guests who expect an island entirely to themselves — the estates are private, occupied and visible. It is wrong for travellers uninterested in wellness, since it shapes the food and the pace whether or not you engage with it. And it is wrong for those wanting a small island; a thousand acres needs a buggy. Those wanting exclusive use should look at Gladden or Royal Belize.
