Sapodilla Private Island

Sapodilla is a group of three small cayes in southern Belize, inside the barrier reef and reached by light aircraft over it. Guests occupy one island; the staff live on another; the third, Little Eden Caye, is kept empty and used for dinners, massages and sunset drinks set up as an extension of the villa.

The villa holds two master suites for one or two couples — four guests — and the islands are let only whole. Raised walkways cross the mangrove between the bedrooms. The stay is all-inclusive with a private chef, a boat captain and massages included, and the guests are told when the staff cross over.

Three islands for four guests. The ratio is the most extreme in the register, and the separate staff island is the mechanism that makes it real rather than rhetorical.

Mangrove rather than lawn. The ground here is mangrove forest and nesting beach, not cleared garden, which is a different kind of island holiday and not to everyone's taste.
