Krabey is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand off Sihanoukville, about twelve minutes by boat, covering roughly twelve hectares of dense jungle over a rocky shore. One resort occupies it. The Cambodian coast has developed rapidly and unevenly in recent years, and the island's separation from it is the property's principal asset.
Around forty villas, all with pools, are set among the trees rather than along a beach — the island has little sand, and the architecture works with rock and canopy instead. Six Senses' practice applies: an earth lab, no plastic water bottles, a sustainability officer with a published remit and a wellness programme running through the property.

Who it is not for
Krabey is wrong for guests wanting a long sandy beach, since the island has very little. It is wrong for travellers seeking clear water, as the Gulf here is seasonal and often turbid. And it is wrong for those uncomfortable with the mainland's rapid development nearby. And it is wrong for guests who want a spa complex and several restaurants at forty villas. Those wanting Cambodian islands at greater scale should look at Song Saa.
