Thirty villas built into the granite boulders of Félicité, rather than cleared from them.
Zil Pasyon occupies Félicité, a granite island of about 270 hectares near La Digue in the inner Seychelles, reached by helicopter or boat. One resort occupies the island. The landscape is the boulder-and-forest terrain the inner Seychelles are known for — steep, dramatic and difficult to build on, which is precisely what shaped the property.
Thirty villas and a set of larger residences are set among and against the granite rather than on cleared platforms, and the spa is built into a boulder outcrop. Six Senses' practice applies throughout: no plastic water bottles, an earth lab, a sustainability officer with a published remit. Four beaches, a dive centre and a long wellness programme fill the island.
Rock as the plan. The villas follow the boulders. The result is a property with no repeated view and no two identical approaches, which is unusual at thirty keys.
Granite Seychelles at resort scale. Most inner-island properties are small lodges or large hotels on Mahé. A thirty-villa resort with a whole granite island to itself sits between the two.
Who it is not for
Zil Pasyon is wrong for guests who want flat ground and easy walking: the island is steep and buggies are constant. It is wrong for travellers wanting a coral-atoll Seychelles of sandbanks and shallow lagoons, which is the outer islands, not here. And it is wrong for those who dislike the wellness framing that runs through Six Senses properties. Those wanting flat and remote should look at Alphonse or Desroches.
