The resort occupies Motu Tautau, a private motu on the barrier reef of Taha'a in the Society Islands, reached by boat from Raiatea. Taha'a itself is the vanilla island of French Polynesia, and its plantations are visible across the lagoon; Bora Bora sits on the horizon in the other direction. The motu is the property's alone, though the lagoon is shared.
Around fifty-seven villas, overwater and on the beach, make up the resort under Pearl Resorts, a Polynesian group. The coral garden on the ocean side — a shallow channel where guests drift over reef with the current — is the property's best-known feature and is fed by the ocean rather than the lagoon.

And it is wrong for those who want to walk to a village, as the motu has none. Those wanting Bora Bora itself should look at Four Seasons Bora Bora or Le Bora Bora.
