Cheval Blanc Randheli occupies a lagoon in Noonu Atoll in the northern Maldives, reached by seaplane from Malé. The Maison is spread across five islands within it: the main island holds the villas, the spa stands on a second, and a third carries the four-bedroom Private Island, which is held as a separate entry here. Nobody else is in the lagoon.
Forty-five villas by Jean-Michel Gathy hold the property, and the service model is drawn from Cheval Blanc's European houses rather than from resort practice — Alpine and Parisian rather than Indian Ocean. The Guerlain spa on its own island is reached by boat, and the restaurants include a Le 1947 outpost. LVMH's ownership shows in the details rather than in the branding.

It is wrong for travellers wanting a single compact island they can learn in a day, since the property is a lagoon with boats. And it is wrong for those who want a conservation-led story, which is not this property's centre. Those wanting barefoot should look at Soneva Fushi or Gili Lankanfushi.
