Kandolhu is a tiny island in North Ari Atoll, reached by seaplane, small enough to walk round in ten minutes and ringed by a house reef that drops away steeply close to shore. One resort occupies it. The reef is the reason divers know the property: the wall begins within swimming distance and the atoll's manta and whale shark sites are nearby.
Thirty villas hold the island. The register keeps it in Little Paradises by editorial exception rather than by key count, because thirty villas on ground this small produces the density of a much smaller property. Four restaurants — unusual at this scale — and a dive centre make up the facilities.

Who it is not for
Kandolhu is wrong for guests who want space to walk and explore, since the island ends quickly. It is wrong for families needing a kids' club and shallow lagoon, neither of which is the property's strength. And it is wrong for those wanting a large resort's spa and facilities. And it is wrong for anyone who dislikes eating in the same four rooms all week. Families should look at Four Seasons Kuda Huraa or Vakkaru.
