Cheval Blanc Randheli Private Island
A four-bedroom island of its own, inside a Maison that already owns five.
Randheli occupies a lagoon in Noonu Atoll in the northern Maldives, and the Maison is spread across several islands within it. One of those islands carries nothing but a single house. It is reached by seaplane from Malé to the Maison and then by boat across the lagoon — the last stretch of the journey is the point at which the rest of the resort stops being visible.
The house holds four bedrooms and is let to one party. It has its own pool, its own spa treatment room, its own gym and cinema, and its own kitchen and staff, including a chef and a dedicated team who work only for the island. Guests keep full access to Randheli itself — the restaurants, the Cheval Blanc Spa, the dive centre — but nothing on their island is shared with anyone.
The best of both structures. A true exclusive-use island usually means giving up a resort's infrastructure. Here the infrastructure is a boat ride away and the island is still entirely private, which is a combination only a handful of properties in the world can offer.

Who it is not for
This is the wrong island for a group of more than eight: four bedrooms cap it, and larger parties end up split across the lagoon, which defeats the purpose. It is wrong for anyone seeking a remote, wild Maldives — Randheli is a polished, designed resort and its private island is a polished, designed house. And it is the wrong choice for travellers who want to feel cut off entirely, since the parent resort is a constant, deliberate presence. For genuine isolation, look to Voavah or Coco Privé Kuda Hithi.
