Cheval Blanc Randheli Private Island

Randheli occupies a lagoon in Noonu Atoll, forty minutes by seaplane from Malé, and the Maison is spread across five islands within it. One of those islands carries nothing but a single house, reached by its own berth and jetty across the lagoon. The crossing is the point at which the rest of the Maison stops being visible.

Four bedrooms sleeping up to twelve: two on the ground floor, a master suite above, and a separate guest villa. A 25-metre pool with a jacuzzi, a private spa over the water with a double treatment room and Guerlain treatments, a gym, a screening room and a chef's kitchen. The staff work only for this island — chef, majordome, maid, concierge, manager and groundskeeper. Guests keep full access to the Maison's five restaurants, four bars, spa, dive centre, tennis and the children's and teens' clubs, a few minutes away on the main island.

Both structures at once. An exclusive-use island usually means giving up a resort's infrastructure. Here the infrastructure is a short boat ride and the island is still entirely private, which few properties anywhere can offer.

Twelve, not eight. The house sleeps twelve across four bedrooms and a guest villa, which is more than a four-bedroom count suggests and is the reason the island works for a family group rather than only a couple.
