Fari Islands

Fari Islands is a group of islands in North Malé Atoll developed as a single hospitality archipelago rather than as one resort. It carries The Ritz-Carlton Maldives and Patina Maldives on separate islands, with Fari Marina Village — a public-facing quay of shops, restaurants and a beach club — serving all of them. This register holds it as a parent record: no single property here occupies an island archipelago on its own, and filing each hotel as a private island would misdescribe the arrangement.

The masterplan was drawn to make the archipelago read as a small settlement rather than a strip of resorts, with the marina as its centre. Individual properties carry their own entries beneath this record and are counted there; this record is not counted in the register's totals.

Built as an archipelago, not assembled into one. The islands and their relationship to each other were designed together, which is rare and produces something closer to a town plan than a resort plan.
