Philippines

8 island properties in Philippines, all of them written in full. The register holds 5 in Island Resorts, 1 in Entire Island, 1 in Little Paradises.

8 records, most of them in Palawan, and a landscape no atoll can offer: limestone karst rising vertically out of clear water, with lagoons reachable only on certain tides.

The islands here are mostly inside larger groups rather than alone in open sea. Ariara sits in the Calamianes with a staff of thirty for eighteen guests; Amanpulo holds Pamalican whole; Banwa built four villas and priced them at the top of the Asian market. Each is a different answer to the same geography.

Typhoon season is the honest constraint and the register puts it on every record rather than in a footnote. The archipelago takes the largest storms on earth, several properties close for months, and one in this register was rebuilt after a direct hit.

What is bought here, for the money, is more space and more staff than anywhere else at the price. What is not bought is Maldivian reliability of transfer or weather.
